Relapse
is a study of impact
“Relapse is a photography series that explores how my body, surroundings, and internal world changed over the course of my journey to substance (mis)use recovery. The series includes images taken during active use, photos taken during an 18-month period of sobriety, and photos taken during a relapse. Some of the photographs are intentional recreations of those taken in the past. Others are accidental recreations, whose similarities emerged years later. When placed in tandem, the photos depict recovery’s physical, emotional, and artistic effects on my life.”
